To be qualified for the GS-12 Security Specialist, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience are: advising management on all aspects of physical security and emergency preparedness to ensure adequate security is maintained for the District; developing, implementing, and administering contingency and emergency preparedness planning efforts to enable the district to continue essential operations and discharge responsibilities during and following emergency situations. Developing procedures to assess the compliance of district security programs with established national, Department, and headquarters policies and procedures, and evaluating the effectiveness of physical, communications, personnel, information and computer security programs within the district. Assisting in periodic security compliance reviews conducted by agency headquarters. Developing, implementing, and administering contingency and emergency preparedness; developing, administering and monitoring loss prevention programs to protect property and evidence located in the District; preparing Security Incident Reports. Planning and overseeing the installation and maintenance of all physical security systems, equipment, and building modifications necessary to ensure adequate security is maintained throughout the District. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
