BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Medical Technician Series 0645 (opm.gov)In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-6) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: A thorough understanding and extensive knowledge of the methods, techniques and practices appropriate to medical technology and their practical application to clinical laboratory work. Skill in calibrating and operating analytical instruments sufficient to independently perform recurring tests and analyses. Understanding of related disciplines such as microbiology, chemistry, physiology, anatomy and their relationship to medical technology. Time In GradeFederal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP) .You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
This position is located within the Laboratory Department of the Clinical Services section at the Woodrow Wilson Keeble Memorial Health Care Center (WWKMHCC), Sisseton, South Dakota. The incumbent serves as a Medical Technician and is responsible for the application, modification and adaptation of analytical methods and procedures in the performance of a variety of tests/examinations of human tissue, fluids and/or other substances in the clinical laboratory.
