Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Implementing fire protection training programs, such as firefighting, Emergency Medical Services, Hazardous materials, technical rescue, etc.; (2) developing training program budget, to include approving or confirming all training and travel expenditures; (3) evaluating fire prevention training and making recommendations for future training, guidelines and meeting safety standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/ level position in the federal service (GS-10). DOD FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To occupy this position, at the time of appointment the incumbent must possess and then continue to maintain the following DoD Firefighter certification levels: Fire Officer III Fire Instructor III Fire Inspector II HAZMAT Incident Commander Airport Firefighter (NOTE: TO BE CONSIDERED, YOU MUST UPLOAD AND ATTACH THE CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES TO YOUR APPLICATION PACKAGE) Maximum Entry Age (MEA)The MEA for Firefighters is 37. Applicants not appointed by the last day of the month in which that individual reaches their 37th birthday shall not be appointed or assigned to these positions.
