In addition to the basic entry education requirements, you must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as described below: To qualify for the GS-14 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level defined as evaluating and providing technical expertise regarding the potential impacts from proper policy application and participate in the development of national guidance. To qualify for the GS-15 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level defined as in providing leadership, oversight or technical expertise to assure the priorities and goals of the organization are consistent with national policies and priorities, developing policies and procedures, allocating and managing resources, performing operational tracking, and overseeing procurements. Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the scientific, and technical concepts, principles, and practices of energy recovery and waste disposal. Ability to plan, organize, and direct staff and projects in the Branch. Ability to mentor, motivate, and appraise staff. Skill in developing partnerships and collaborating with professionals outside of your organization to negotiate solutions. Knowledge of the scientific, and technical concepts, principles, and practices of energy recovery and waste disposal. Skill in oral communication. Skill in written communication. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
