Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) experience managing a security guard force; (2) experience controlling access of vehicles, visitors and pedestrians into a facility such as a military installation; (3) experience using automated systems to query and verify suitability for visitor entry into a facility such as a military installation; (4) experience transcribing data using special codes in accordance with federal, and state regulations and (5) experience dealing with difficult customers who may be found ineligible for access. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Access Control Operations Oral Communication Physical Security Written Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

About the Position: This position is at in the DES at the US Army Garrison Carlisle Barracks in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. This position may be filled at the GS-6 or GS-7 level. Competition for Security Guard positions is restricted by law to persons entitled to Veterans Preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment.
