Student Internship Program Eligibility: Current students in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. To be eligible for appointment to a position in the Small Business Administration (SBA) Internship Program, throughout the duration of the appointment, an individual must: Be currently enrolled or accepted as a student on at least a half-time basis at a qualifying educational institution in a certificate, degree, or diploma program. Be seeking a degree that is relevant to the position. Grade qualifications must be met prior to start date. Must meet the definition of a student throughout the duration of their internship appointment. Complete at least 640 hours of work experience prior to completion of degree. Students who have graduated are not eligible for this position. If selected you: must sign a Pathways Internship Program Participant Agreement; may be employed throughout the academic year; must maintain status as a current student; maintain good academic standing, at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale. must furnish course registration information at the start of each school term; and must provide verification of academic status (transcript) at the end of each academic term. GS-07: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector which demonstrates the ability to work in all of the following: Planning and coordinating meetings for a professional organization or council; AND facilitating communication between different professional groups; AND collaborating with various stakeholders to update documents or processes. These qualifications must be clearly referenced in your resume. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by 11:59 pm (Eastern Time) on 10/30/2024.
This position is located in the Office of Policy Planning and Liaison (OPPL), within the Office of Government Contracting and Business Development (GCBD) of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The incumbent serves as a Student Trainee, primarily responsible for supporting OPPLs activities related to the Small Business Procurement Advisory Council, academic research initiatives, and policy management.
