In order to meet the Education Requirements for a Supervisory Health Science Policy Analyst, GS-0601, you must have a Bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the education requirement, you must have at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the federal government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of biomedical research programs; providing advice and assistance on biosafety/biosecurity policy issues affecting the organization and biomedical research community; making recommendations for long-range and immediate program objectives and proposals; preparing background materials for senior staff that capture the current state of knowledge in biosecurity policy areas; and providing support to committees and meetings to address program and biomedical research policy issues. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience and knowledge regarding relevant scientific and policy issues such as those related to biosecurity, dual use research, preparedness, synthetic biology, and the bioeconomy. They will have proven experience working on and leading collaborative, interdisciplinary teams and projects and will be adept at building consensus and working with high-ranking personnel and U.S. government officials.
