Examples of related/qualifying experience: Ensuring the proper care and handling of resale grocery items. Locating items for customers. Rotating stock, stacking containers, and participating in inventories. Operating a computer system to calculate prices and label merchandise. Arranging stock on shelves and in displays. You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Physical requirements: (1) Work requires continuous walking, standing, bending, and/or stooping and moving of arms to fill shelves, counters, build displays, and pick orders. (2) Frequently lifts or moves heavy boxes or crates weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally, with assistance or with the use of pallet jack or other material handling equipment, lifts items weighing over 50 pounds. You will attest to your ability to perform these physical requirements in the Questionnaire. This job has one critical element, called the screen-out element (SOE). The SOE addresses the critical knowledge, skill, and abilities essential to satisfactory job performance. Work environment: Most of the work is performed in the store display areas which are well lighted ad maintained at a comfortable temperature. The store aisles are often crowded with customers and grocery carts. When working in the storage area or loading dock, or outside retrieving carts, the incumbent may be exposed to hot or cold weather or damp or drafty conditions. Incumbent may be exposed to differences in temperatures in storing or obtaining items in refrigerated rooms. Store Workers serve in one or more commissary store departments (e.g., grocery, produce, warehouse, etc.) performing a variety of duties involved in receiving, handling, marking, preparing, displaying, and maintaining the stock of resale items.
