To qualify for this position you must meet the BOTH qualification and/or education requirements listed below: Basic Requirement for Museum Curator: A. Degree: Bachelor’s degree (or higher degree) in museum work; or in an applicable subject-matter field such as Museum Studies or Military History. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. OR C. Experience: Four years of experience that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the four year course of study as shown in A above. Specialized Experience GS-13: One year of specialized experience which includes developing management programs and policies; performing administrative oversight to include restoration of artifacts to contractors; managing multiple subordinate museums and/or training support facilities; and expediting museum facility maintenance and/or new construction needs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Ability to lead or supervise History and Archaeology Reading Comprehension Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). About the Position: Serves as the Director of the consolidated museums and related programs of Military History and Heritage. The museums contain large collections of foreign and domestic material of historical value. Independently discharges responsibility for the oversight,operation, management, development, and expansion of the museums. Serves as a senior advisor to the local Commander on matters pertaining to the US Army Museum Enterprise, its programs, and regulations
