However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Pipefitter (Direct Hiring Authority) ~ without more than normal supervision to include performing preventive maintenance on pipefitting systems to ensure systems are in compliance with installation regulations and diagnosing pipefitting malfunctions in order to replace pipes, fittings, connections, valves and controls. – Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort-Makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms and where the systems aid equipment worked on are in hard to reach places. Required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently handles, lifts, carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds. Occasionally may lift and carry items that weigh over 50pounds. Working Conditions-Work is done inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy. Sometimes required to make installation and repairs in areas where bad smelling fumes are present. Frequently exposed to the possibility of uncomfortable heat conditions. Frequently exposed to the possibility of strains, cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, and infections. Occasionally exposed to the possibility of broken bones.
