However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Mechanic Leader ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the Ability to Lead or Supervise common Maintenance Mechanic duties, such as the maintenance or repair of variety of large of heating and cooling systems to include boilers, water heaters, electrical panels, equipment motors, surface and recessed lighting, equipment switches; the application of a variety of carpentry skills and techniques in repairing or maintaining a variety of wooden structures, as well as the interpretation and application of building plans and blueprints; painting a variety of items such as stairs, stairways and walls, as well as spackling holes or cracks in ceilings/walls; installation, maintenance, or repair of plumbing systems; maintenance or repair work on building wiring; perform minor repairs on ice machines, refrigerators, walk-in freezers, and/or dishwashers. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. – Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official. Physical Effort: Work requires a considerable amount of physical labor. Continuous walking, bending, stooping, climbing is required. The employee occasionally may lift and carry items that weigh up to 40 pounds or more with the assistance of another employee. Working Conditions: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Exposed to possibility of cuts, bruises, scalds/burns, electrical shocks, and exposure to carbon monoxide and other toxic fumes or chemicals. Protective clothing and devices such as googles, heavy aprons, hard hats, ear protection, steel toed shoes, and gloves must be worn to minimize the potential for accidents.
