Examples of qualifying experience: Working as a janitor in a retail, office, or warehouse environment. Uses machines (floor scrubber, power washers, and floor buffers) along with other tools (e.g. buckets, mops, cleaning cloth, cleaning solutions, squeegees) to do the job. You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Physical requirements: (1) Must move and control heavy equipment, carry and set up ladders and scaffolding, and work from ladders and scaffolds. (2) Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 40 pounds regularly and, occasionally, objects weighing 50 pounds or more. You will attest to your ability to perform these physical requirements in the Questionnaire. Work environment: Works within the commissary indoor areas most of the time; however, occasionally must work out of doors to accomplish cleaning tasks. Is exposed to conditions inherent in cleaning tasks such as skin irritations and chapped hands from working with strong cleaning agents. Care is required to avoid serious injuries when working on ladders and scaffolds and when using heavy powered equipment. Indoor work areas normally have adequate heat, light, and ventilation.
