Required Work Experience One to three years of experience which provided familiarity with operation of office equipment and a basic understanding of inventory methods. Required Special Skills/ Knowledge Knowledge of modern inventory control, materials management, and asset management practices. Knowledge of, or ability to learn procurement rules and regulations pertaining to Senate’s financial and inventory management systems. Knowledge of office equipment, computers and relevant software/Web applications, and spreadsheets and databases. Ability to work on stock picker elevated above 30’ above ground level. Ability to enter and keep accurate computerized records. Ability to test and make minor equipment repairs. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, co-workers and customers. Physical strength, agility, and dexterity required to perform the work. Ability to learn traffic routes and the location of governmental buildings and installations in and around the Washington, D.C. area in confined spaces. Ability to communicate effectively. This position may require the incumbent to be available for sudden recall in response to emergency events affecting the Senate campus/community, which may include after-hour or weekend work, and to potentially deploy to alternate sites in support of the Senate’s contingency operations. Possession of a valid driver’s license for at least three years and a good driving record. Ability to work on stock picker elevated above 30’ above ground level. Pallet jack certification. As part of our hiring process, we may conduct a skills assessment to better understand an applicant’s proficiency in key areas relevant to the role. Desired Qualifications Valid Forklift Certification with a commitment to maintaining certification. Proficiency in processing inventory requests, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Familiarity with various shipping methods, enabling effective coordination of deliveries. Working Conditions The person in this position needs to occasionally move, bend, crawl, stand for long durations. Frequently moves boxes/ equipment weighing less than 50 pounds for various needs. Work exposes the employee to excessive noise. Work requires operation of powered industrial trucks (like forklift, pallet jacks, scissor lift etc.) Work requires employee to wearing uniforms.
