This position is OPEN UNTIL FILLED and may be extended or closed prior to the current closing date. GS-3: Six months of general experience or successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. GS-4: One year of general experience or two years of progressively higher-level education in an accredited business or technical school, college or university above high school in any field for which high school graduation or equivalent is a prerequisite. General Experience Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. GS-5: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level or four years of progressively higher-level education leading to a bachelor’s degree in above high school in an accredited business or technical school, college or university above high school in any field for whichhigh school graduation or equivalent is a prerequisite. Specialized experience is experience that demonstrates the applicants’ ability to assist in the preparation of leases and permits, searching regulations and laws concerning leases, providing information to prospective leases, reviewing documents for completion and accuracy. Maintain files of all permits, leases and realty documents, consulting with customers/potential leases on a daily basis and answering inquiries of leases and permits. Providing direct assistance in preparing realty correspondence, reports, typing, maintain logs, data sheets, and processing of realty transactions. Preparing and clearing and categorizing files. Perform a variety of administrative duties, analyzing problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions; plan and organize work and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Proficiency Requirement: This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants for these positions must show possession of 40 words per minute (wpm) typing speed. You may meet this requirement by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date. Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (title 25, USC Section 472). Additional selections may be made from this announcement if identical vacancies occur in the same location within 90 days from the closing date.
This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Superintendent, Fort Peck Agency in Poplar, Montana. This position is to contribute the mission of Real Estate Services by providing program support at Fort Peck Agency.
