Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement: Physical Scientist A. Degree: Bachelor’s degree (or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to one of the majors, as shown in A above, that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 or above grade level in the Federal service which includes: Develop laboratory tests and analytical methods used to determine the accuracy and precision of analytical results and modify or adapt standing procedures; develop guidance for the training of operators monitoring devices and associated equipment; manage hazardous waste generated during igloo leaker isolation procedures, laboratory analysis, remedial operations and permitted or regulated facilities; maintain and manage Chemical Agent Monitoring Suit sheds and 90 day storage facilities. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Hazardous Materials Managing Human Resources Planning and Evaluating Teaches Others Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Term Appointment NTE – Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 2 Years. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Current permanent Federal employees to include permanent Army employees applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. When a current Army employee applies to a JOA opened for a term appointment, the action will be a conversion to a term appointment.
