To qualify for the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is defined as: Comprehensive knowledge of administrative policies and practices and the skill to apply this knowledge to providing daily office functions such as receiving callers and visitors; scheduling conferences and meetings; preparing travel arrangements, purchasing and maintaining office furniture, equipment and supplies; drafting and reviewing correspondence; Maintaining a calendar and scheduling appointments for senior agency leadership or senior level staff in a large law firm and utilizing advanced computer skills including legal research software; Ability to conduct research and gather facts; handle administrative duties with respect to accounting, budget and billing; and Open, close, and maintain paper and electronic files and liaise with clients and other attorneys on file progress, conducting research and make recommendations to senior agency leadership or senior level staff in a large law firm. OR PhD or equivalent doctoral degree. OR Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related NOTE: Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience
This position is located in the Office of the Commissioner. The incumbent serves as a Staff Assistant and provides assistance to the office on all matters relative to the coordination, integration, and needs of the office. The incumbent reports to the Commissioner.
