To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Medical Support Assistance Series 0679 (opm.gov) In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-04: 1 year of general experience; OR, 2 years above high school. GS-05: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level; OR, 4 years above high school. GS-06: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level. General Experience: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience for GS-05: Assist patients with making appointments, interview patients to gather information, enter patient data into an electronic health record, assist patients in completing forms, review documents for accuracy, explain processes and policies to patients, initiate health records and admission forms. Examples of specialized experience for GS-06: knowledge of the appointment system, ability to coordinate patient care based on medical provider referral for laboratory services, assist with collection of medical samples for laboratory testing. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
This position is located in the Laboratory Department at Pine Ridge Service Unit, Pine Ridge, SD. The purpose of this position is to perform medical support assistant duties, manage the appointment system, serve as receptionist, assist with clerical and medical support service duties to provide efficient services to clients, visitors, and other health care providers and some phlebotomy duties.
