POWER PLANT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to lead or supervise as a POWER PLANT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR . I have the ability to lead or supervise common power plant maintenance duties. I have the potential ability to assign work to plan the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials and tools on a day-to-day or project-by-project basis. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey level employee who observes tasks in-progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work tasks require that the incumbent be capable of rapid simultaneous mental and muscular coordination in conjunction with eye and hand coordination to operate switches and controls in accordance with meter indications. In order to perform the maintenance, inspection and operation of power station equipment the incumbent may lift and carry heavy objects, climb and reach above the shoulders, stand, sit, crawl and kneel for prolonged periods of time and performs repeated bending. WORKING CONDITIONS: The incumbent will work primarily inside around machinery in operation; in close proximity to high and low voltage circuits and climbs stairs frequently. Sometimes work will be performed outside in weather of varying degree of temperature and humidity, in tight or cramped work spaces, on ladders or scaffolds and on slippery or uneven walking surfaces. Occasionally the incumbent will use solvents or de-greasing agents, be assigned to protracted or irregular hours of work, use both hands in water and be exposed to silica, asbestos, oil, grease, excessive noise, vibration, smoke and gas fumes. Personal protective safety devices will be supplied to the worker when in an area of hazardous exposure. Examples of devices are hard hats, safety shoes, safety goggles and glasses, fresh air breathing masks, gloves, dust and smoke respirators, ear muffs, insulated gloves and safety grounds. When in an area of hazardous exposure, the incumbent will wear the appropriate personal safety device.
About the Position: Plans, directs, and oversees the daily operations of a system of large complex multi-purpose power project(s) that includes hydroelectric power plant(s), high voltage switchyard(s), and dam(s) with controlled spillways.
