Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying a comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of radiological control practices and requirements, together with knowledge of various processes in several trades sufficient to monitor and control serval phases of refueling and primary systems components replacement; suggests radiological improvement to local procedures; and controls complex incidents. Experience applying an intensive knowledge of the principles, theories, techniques, and methodologies for the surveillance of nuclear propulsion plant work processes, control of radioactive material, and control of radiation exposure and radioactive contamination. Experience applying a practical knowledge of and experience in the proper technical application of radiological principles, techniques, and methodologies of surveillance necessary to control deviations from proper work processes and procedures. Experience applying a detailed knowledge of potential radiological control casualty situations and of the appropriate corrective or mitigating action which must be taken. Experience applying a detailed knowledge of the function, nomenclature, location, and physical structure of naval nuclear propulsion plants in naval vessels and their support systems. This includes a detailed knowledge of both physical and structural similarities and differences between propulsion plants and practical knowledge of plant systems and components which interface or do not interface with the remaining systems and components. Experience preventing and controlling incidents and accidents during complicated operations. Skilled in determining, directing, and controlling the activities of all personnel, disposition of effects of the emergency during potentially complex emergency situations. Experience providing the full range of radiological control service for a wide variety of operations in industrial or other work. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying knowledge of a wide range of radiological control practices and requirements, together with knowledge of various processes in several trades sufficient to monitor and control serval phases of refueling and primary systems components replacement; suggests radiological improvement to local procedures; and controls complex incidents. Experience demonstrating ability to determine the cause of serious incidents and solve radiological control problems that lower grade technicians cannot solve. Experience reviewing work procedures in the various high level trades and test procedures on radioactive systems for radiological implications. Experience appraising work procedures and recommending more efficient and safe methods for radiation/contamination related evolutions. GS-7: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-6 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Experience reviewing local radiological control practices and procedures to include determining deficiencies in the actions taken by Radiological Control Technicians or other personnel and making recommendations as to needed changes or additions in training, radiological procedures or work practices. Experience documenting deficiencies in writing reports and assessments and a rudimentary understanding of casual analysis and problem solving. Experience being qualified in multiple programs and processes as a Radiological Control Technician, and maintaining those qualifications Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: Physical Science Technician Series 1311 (opm.gov) General Schedule Qualification Standards (opm.gov) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
