Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate: Experience providing (1) Conducting queries utilizing automated systems; and (2) researching and analyzing program issues; and (3) present effectively in writing and verbally. OR Possess a bachelor’s degree with superior academic achievement. OR 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement. One year of graduate experience is 18 semester hours. You must submit a copy of your unofficial transcripts to support your claim. OR A combination of education and specialized experience. To combine education and experience, determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must submit your unofficial transcript to support your claim. GS-9: Specialized Experience: For the GS-09 applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate: Experience providing (1) Researching and applying investigative policies and procedures; and (2) Assists in interviews; and (3) Conducts queries and data analysis utilizing law enforcement systems. OR Completion of two full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education or masters or equivalent graduate degree or LLB or JD; OR A combination of education and specialized experience. To combine education and experience, determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must submit your unofficial transcript to support your claim. NOTE: Applicants must submit supporting transcripts if any part of qualifications is based on education. Note: Superior Academic Achievement (SAA), may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) allows applicants to apply for certain positions at the GS-7 level if they have a Bachelors degree in a qualifying field of study and they meet one of the following requirements: class standing (upper 1/3 graduating class), G.P.A. is 3.0 or higher, or if applicant was a member in a National Scholastic Honor Society. *One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume should include the dates of all qualifying experience (from month/year to month/year) and the number of hours worked/volunteered per week.
