To qualify for the position of Information Technology Specialist (CUSTSPT), you must meet the Basic Qualification Requirements AND possess the required Specialized Experience specific to the series and grade listed below. This experience must be identified in your resume. Basic Requirements: Attention to Detail – Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail; Customer Service – Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services; Oral Communication – Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; AND, Problem Solving – Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Specialized Experience: GS-12: Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate the following specialized experience: Experience planning and carrying out IT customer support functions and activities for assigned organizations; Experience providing assistance and support to customer organizations in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting IT systems, hardware, software, and networks; Experience investigating and analyzing a variety of unusual conditions or problems, providing technical advice and guidance; Experience resolving technical problems and issues and develops recommendations and proposals to address more complex design or operational issues; AND Experience implementing activities and functions as a technical resource on customer support functions.
