Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Baker without more than normal supervision. Can prepare a full range of baked products found in regular and special diet menus which include bread, rolls, buns, pies, cookies, biscuits, danish pastries, pie crusts, quick breads, cakes, etc. Can select the tools and equipment with which to prepare baked products. Can adjust measurements and revise recipes to change quantities. Familiar with oven timing and temperature control. Can maintain cleanliness and orderliness of bakery by cleaning and washing ovens, work tables, equipment, refrigerators, utensils, and floors. – Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices Physical Effort: With help, frequently lifts and moves items weighing 75 pounds or more. Work requires continuous bending, stooping, standing, or walking. Working Conditions: Work is frequently performed in disagreeably hot areas. Concrete floors are tiring to walk on and, when scrubbed, present danger of slipping. Injuries may result from working with hot ovens and hot pots and from using powered equipment. May be exposed to extremes in temperatures when entering walk-in refrigerators from warn kitchen areas. Incumbent works on rotating day, evening, weekend and holiday shifts.
About the Position: This position is located in the Nutrition Care department at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, in San Antonio Texas.
