WHO CAN APPLY: GROUP I – All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Member (E4/SPC – E6/SSG) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program. GROUP II – All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Member (E4/SPC – E6/SSG) regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period. GROUP III – Individuals eligible for membership in the Virginia Army National Guard. Military Grades: Enlisted Member (E4/SPC – E6/SSG) GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have experience or training acting as the Aircraft Mechanic (Crew Chief) with responsibility for managing the operational readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviation unit personnel. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least 18 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the WG-11 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the WG grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as: Experience managing, monitoring or performing overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft. Experience overseeing ground movement of aircraft. Experience ensuring Unit Level Logistics-Aviation (ULLS-A) and other aircraft documentation accurately reflects status and airworthiness of assigned aircraft. Experience planning, developing and conducting proficiency training during the technician work week to a multi-faceted workforce comprised of Full Time Support (FTS) and supported unit personnel.
