There is a Basic Requirement that must be met to qualify for this position: A. bachelor’s degree or higher in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR C. Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement, applicants must meet the following: In addition to meeting the basic entry qualification requirements, you must also have one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-14) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized Experience is defined as: Strong leadership skills and knowledge of American Correctional Association (ACA), American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), and the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Knowledge of social service program management concepts and principles and demonstrated skill in activating a residential treatment program, reentry program, or sanctions center; or a correctional facility that houses or provides other operations required to activate and manage a residential treatment program. Time-in-Grade Requirement: Current agency employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-14 or higher grade in Federal Service. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The position is located in the Reentry Sanctions Center (RSC), a 24-hour, 7-day per week Residential Facility. Shift Work is required to include weekends and overnight for this position. The incumbent conducts intakes, completes evaluations, facilitates evidence-based groups, and provides the full range of assessment and counseling services to offenders/defendants with behavioral health disorders.
