Biological Science Technician (Wildlife)

Only experience and education obtained by 11/13/2024 will be considered. In order to qualify for this position you must possess the Minimum Qualifications. Minimum Qualification [GS-05] One year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 grade level in the federal service, or equivalent non-Federal experience. Examples of specialized include experience in the performing the following duties: conducting surveys of wildlife; capturing, handling, and tagging a variety of wildlife; assisting with studies of wildlife or vegetation; and recording scientific data to prepare reports. NOTE: Your resume must contain sufficient information in these areas to be found qualified. -OR- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree with major study or at least 24-semester hours in any combination of courses such as such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. At least 6 semester hours of courses must have been directly related to this position being filled. -OR- Combination of specialized experience (as in A above) and education (as in B above), when prorated, combine to meet the qualification requirements of this position. Experience and education are each computed as percentages of their requirements and must equal 100 percent when combined. Only education beyond the second year is creditable to meet this standard. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
This position is a Biological Science Technician (Wildlife), GS- 0404-5 working in Carr, Colorado for the R6-National Black-Footed Ferret Conservation Center. This is a temporary position expected to last 6 months or 1040 hours from the date of appointment but may be extended up to a total of 2 years at managements discretion.
