Applicants must have a Ph.D. in economics, health economics, or a related discipline. Special consideration will be given to applicants with at least five years of postdoctoral experience in analyzing federal health care programs or health care markets. Applicants should have strong quantitative skills, experience using claims data or other large health care data files, knowledge of at least one programming language, and an interest in the development of policy-relevant models. Applicants should also be able to initiate and complete research projects both independently and with a team; be able to clearly present their work orally and in writing to nontechnical audiences; and want to work on issues of legislative interest to the Congress. The divisions portfolio includes an array of topics related to health care and the federal budget. The two health economists will contribute to developing new studies and to designing and improving the analytical models that underlie CBOs studies and cost estimates for proposed legislation.
