Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to Lead or Supervise work in deactivation furnace operations, destroying unserviceable ammunition and utilizing unique methods and processes to dispose of conventional munitions; experience operating breakdown machines and/or other special-purpose computerized industrial equipment for demilitarization of conventional munitions; experience operating scrubber systems such as pollution abatement systems. – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Ability to Lead or Supervise Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc. Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORTS: Work requires lifting and carrying boxes and items weighing 25 to 40 pounds, or pulling or pushing objects weighing over 40 pounds, for less than 20 percent of the work cycle. Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and in tiring and uncomfortable positions. During fork lift operation, physical effort is required in braking and steering, manipulation of clutch, shift, lifting and tilting mechanisms. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is in close proximity to munitions containing explosives; is exposed to prevailing weather conditions; and equipment which generates heat sometimes up to 1600 degrees Fahrenheit. Work is performed on the demolition range and outside on ramps and storage areas when weather is often inclement. There are assignments where dirt, grease, noise, and odors are often disagreeable. Is required to wear protective clothing which is specially made and treated for working on explosives including safety shoes, glasses, coveralls, etc. Subject to assignment to either of two shifts on a regular or rotating basis.
