GS-07: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying knowledge and understanding of the theory, principles, and practices of Health Physics. Experience identifying sources of radiation and radioactivity that might be encountered in the Shipyard (e.g., radiography, calibration sources, etc.). Experience understanding how to use computer software, prepare reports, conduct analyses, and ensure environmental compliance. Experience applying a basic knowledge and understanding of reactor, plant, and nuclear ship design and operating characteristics. GS-05: Applicants who meet the Basic Requirements for this position are fully qualified for the GS-05 grade level. Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree in natural science or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and/or calculus. OR Combination of education and experience — courses as shown above, plus appropriate experience or other education; or certification as a health physicist by the American Board of Health Physics, plus appropriate experience and other education that provided an understanding of sciences applicable to health physics comparable to that described above. When combining education, qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying a basic knowledge and understanding of the theory, principles, and practices of Health Physics.
