This is a term position not to exceed 13 months. Term positions may be extended up to a maximum of 6 years, and MAY NOT be converted to permanent. Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights. Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):’ WG-09 Painter Minimum Qualifications: Ability to do the work of a Painter without more than normal supervision: 1) spray paint various items using different coating types and products; 2) apply chemical compounded paints designed for special purpose; 3) spray various colors to produce a camouflage effect and utilize electrostatic spray guns to apply heated coating materials. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. WG-07 Painting Worker Minimum Qualifications: Ability to do the work of a Painting Worker with closer than normal direction from higher graded employees 1) spray paint various surfaces, visually inspecting surfaces to determine if they are properly prepared for painting; 2) marking areas that do not require painting. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. WG-05 Painting Helper Minimum Qualifications: Ability to do the work of a Painting Helper with closer than normal direction from higher graded employees 1) mask surfaces that do not require painting; 2) mixing paints and solvents; 3) spackling to prepare surfaces, AND 4) rust and corrosion removal. Work under continuous supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work assignments require heavy lifting and carrying of 40 lbs. and over. There is frequent use of fingers and reaching above shoulders height. Work is performed in walking, standing, kneeling positions with repeated bending occasionally. Climbing is required with use of arms and both legs. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and occasionally outside in hot, cold, humid, damp or chilling or dry atmosphere conditions. Exposed to constant noise, dust, fumes, smoke, gases, solvents, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy. Works on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, around objects and on vehicles, and ladders. Works closely with others or alone. Safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves and protective clothing, and respiratory protection are required.
