Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. The Screen-out Element for this position is the ability to perform the duties of a Rigger Worker as demonstrated by working under close supervision including using established rigging practices, working under the direction of a senior Rigger assembling, repairing, and installing weight handling gear and various standing and running rigging onto heavy loads for movement by crane or other mobile material handling equipment; signaling crane operators, using standard hand signals to assist with lifting operations; a general knowledge of mathematics; assisting senior Riggers in calculating weights, center of gravity, lifting capacities, angles of tension and breaking strength of rigging gear; determining measurements, volumes, weight of materials using assisting in mooring vessels, and/or line handling; performing rigging aboard or in direct support of sailing ships/sail powered vessels; working a member of a rigging/lifting team.
