NOTE: Qualifications are based on breadth/level of experience. WHO CAN APPLY: GROUP I – All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Member (E1/PV1 – E7/SFC) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program. GROUP II – All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Member (E1/PV1 – E7/SFC) regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period. Military Grades: Enlisted Member (E1/PV1 – E7/SFC) GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and are you able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least 12 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the WG-07 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the WG grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as: Experience or training using common hand and power tools and a small variety of test and measurement devices to make mechanical repairs. Experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components, and accessories Experience which demonstrates a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to vehicles; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience demonstrating an understanding of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships.
