WHO CAN APPLY: GROUP I – In order to be eligible for this position you must be an Enlisted Member (E6/SSG-E8/MSG) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program. Military Grades: Enlisted Member (E1/PV1 – E7/SFC) GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have experience or training which demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, inspect, and/or overhaul a variety of complex combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment having complicated mechanical and non-mechanical systems with a variety of interconnected systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least 18 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the WG-10 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the WG grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as: Experience performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repair on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical, and automotive vehicles. Experience troubleshooting equipment with a variety of the mechanically complex major systems and diagnoses difficult performance problems and the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks, uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges and computer diagnostic tools. Experience removing and disassembling engines and complex major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. Experience independently performing repairs and maintenance functions with little or no supervision in remote locations.
