Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have an approved and current nationally recognized certification for the type of activity and skill levels they are instructing, e.g., swimming, aquatic exercise. Individual must have or receive this certification prior to or within the first 60 days of employment. Must be nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training is desirable. Individual must have or receive this certification prior to or within the first 30 days of employment. Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of instructional and developmental teaching methods, swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. Satisfactory completion of installation records checks, and state and national criminal background checks may be required for positions that provide lessons or instruction to children. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and carry them out. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI), State Criminal History Repository Check (SCHRC) and Installation Records Check (IRC). Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.
About the position: This position will be assigned to the Buckner and Elmendorf Fitness Center Pools on JBER, AK . Flexible employees have work schedules that depend on the needs of the activity. You may work a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Flexible employees may be subjected to “on call” work in addition to hours posted on the schedule.
