SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-08 Level – MUST possess the specialized experience which requires knowledge to include public law, executive orders, state and municipal Codes, OSHA, AFOSH, EPA, American National Standards Institute (ANSI), American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH), and American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) standards; USAF and ANG regulations and supplements, criteria documents, professional journals, textbooks, and past practice; independent interpretation, judgment, evaluation, selection, and application; exercise experienced judgment to adapt past practices to meet the situation. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
