To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Language Proficiency: For this position, you must be: (1) proficient in spoken and written English. (2) proficient in spoken Spanish. This position requires a typing requirement of 40 words per minute. GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA’s) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Schedule appointments, coordinates meetings and/or schedules conferences for the ACOS for Rehabilitation. Ensure compliance with the Credentialing & Privileging (C&P) requirements established by the Department of Veterans Affairs, The Joint Commission, and other accrediting bodies. Ensure that staff members make timely submission of their leave requests for clinic cancellations according to the VACHS leave request policy and follow-up with supervisor that the request had been entered in the LEAF automated system and approved in accordance with the VACHS protocol. Conduct internal records review to ensure an effective records management program within their scope is maintained on, at a minimum, an annual basis. Performs general typing work whether from voice recordings or written material using Microsoft Words computer software. There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The selectee serves as personal Administrative Support Assistant to the Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) for Rehabilitation, VA Medical Center San Juan, Puerto Rico. He/she is responsible for performing a wide spectrum of secretarial and administrative duties to assist the ACOS for Rehab, and in some cases, the Care Line Manager, Administrative Officer, and the supervisory personnel of all PM&R sections by performing general office work auxiliary to the work of the service.
