Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Clinical): Degree: Master’s degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations, providing individual or group clinical counseling, and developing treatment plans and/or recommendations for behavioral health patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. This is a TERM position NTE 3 years. The appointment may be extended up to six (6) years. Appointment in this position does not provide competitive status to apply for permanent positions. This position has the potential for subsequent conversion to a career-conditional or career appointment without further competition, if all requirements under authority of section 9902(b)(2) of title 5, U.S.C. have been met. This position MAY be made permanent without further competition contingent upon verification of the incumbent’s non-competitive eligibility (must be a 30% veteran, VRA, reinstatement eligible, etc., under competitive service). This position may be filled as a Temporary Promotion or a Temporary Reassignment and may be extended for current Department of Army employees NTE 6 Years. At the end of the TERM appointment, you will return to your permanent position of record, or to a different position of equivalent grade and pay. If the selectee is not a current permanent Army employee. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of 8 years. This is an obligated position. Occupancy of this position is limited to the return of a former incumbent with statutory reemployment rights under 10 U.S.C. 1586. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour. You will be asked to sign an agreement acknowledging that you are aware of the obligation and willing to be displaced under reduction in force procedures upon the return of the former incumbent.
