The qualification requirements listed below must be met within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. This position has an individual occupation requirement – Actuarial Science Series 1510. In addition to the Minimum Requirements below, you must also meet the Basic Requirements. Submission of transcript is required. Unofficial is acceptable at time of application. Basic Requirements: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: A bachelor’s degree that included courses in actuarial science, mathematics, relevant statistics, business, finance, economics, insurance, or computer science totaling at least 24 semester hours. This course work must have included a minimum of 12 semester hours of mathematics that included differential and integral calculus and one or more courses in mathematics for which these calculus courses were prerequisites. or Combination of education and experience that includes both of the following requirements: Technical work experience in actuarial support work or in mathematics; and Completion of a minimum of 24 semester hours of courses in actuarial science, mathematics, relevant statistics, business, finance, economics, insurance, or computer science at a four year college or university. This course work must have included a minimum of 12 semester hours of mathematics that included differential and integral calculus and one or more courses in mathematics for which these calculus courses were prerequisites. And For GS-13 and above or Equivalent Grade Levels: Applicants may qualify for higher grade levels by meeting all of the following requirements: One year of actuarial experience equivalent to the next lower grade level; and A course of educational study as described in paragraph (a) above. Minimum Requirements: To qualify for this position at the GS-14 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following Working as a professional actuary; AND Designing and implementing actuarial studies, analyses, or projections; AND Providing actuarial advice and communications for actuarial projects. In this position you work as a member of the Resilience-FIMA, Risk Management, Actuarial & Catastrophic Modeling Branch. The ideal candidate for this position will work as a professional actuary and holds an Associateship or Fellowship from an American or International Actuarial Society.
