Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement 11/15/2024 including specialized experience, as defined. Individual Occupational Requirements Education Undergraduate Education: Major study — economics, agricultural economics, marketing, business administration, animal or poultry science/husbandry, agronomy, soil science, or related curricula dealing with the production and distribution of farm products. Graduate Education: Major study — dairy science, agricultural marketing, domestic agricultural development, farm management, agronomy, or other agricultural specialty areas. -OR- Specialized experience: One full-time year of specialized work experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that demonstrates knowledge of the laws and regulations governing agricultural stabilization and conservation programs to serve as an advisor on the application of national policies and objectives at the State level; Understanding of farming practices and customs in the United States, and of the economic needs of farm communities at the State level; Experience maintaining relationships with representatives of public organizations, farmers’ associations, and others, to interpret agricultural regulations, programs, and policies affecting them. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
This position is in the Farm Service Agency, Georgia State Office, located in Sylvester, Georgia. About the position: Delegated full responsibility for administering and advising on assigned Farm Programs in the State, interpreting regulations and legal requirements and providing guidance to County Offices on complex, precedent setting, or unusual situations.
