WHO CAN APPLY: GROUP I – In order to be eligible for this position you must be a Commissioned Officer (O5/LTC-O6/COL) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program. Military Grades: a Commissioned Officer (O5/LTC-O6/COL) GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have experience or training which demonstrates the ability to direct the Army National Guard (ARNG) plans, operations, training, readiness and mobilization programs for federal and state missions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least 12 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-13 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as: Experience serving as the primary staff officer for the formulation of plans, policies, and the programming and budgeting data pertaining to operations and security. Experience providing management guidance and leadership to subordinate personnel as the program manager for the directorate. Experience assessing, interpreting, and adapting National Guard Bureau (NGB), Forces Command (FORSCOM), Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Continental United States-Army (CONUSA), and Commander-in-Chief’s intent into training guidance and directives for command elements. Experience representing the state Adjutant General in public meetings and conferences.
