Definitions: EXPERIENCE: One year of work experience is twelve months working full-time (at least 35-40 hours per week). Part-time experience can be pro-rated (i.e., a year at 20 hours per week is credited as 6 months of experience). If your position consisted of mixed duties, experience credit is given for the percentage of time that you spent on qualifying duties (i.e., if you held a position for 2 years, full-time, consisting of 25% personnel work and 75% budget work, and then applied for a budget position you could calculate your experience as follows: 2 yrs = 24 months. 24 months x 75% [percentage of time spent on budget duties] = 18 months of qualifying experience.) For GS-14: Applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-14 level: **One year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service. Examples of GS-13 level work include: 1) providing project management expertise for a federal realty acquisition program; 2) independently planning, directing staff, and budgeting space acquisition projects ensuring mission objectives are met; 3) provide advice, options, and recommendations to senior management on program business and policy development; 4) reviewing, verifying, and analyzing data to identify problems and develop creative solutions for facilities planning, acquisition, and support to customers to include managing all aspects of space acquisition, construction, and tenant improvement projects; 5) overseeing the work of contractors to ensure compliance with specifications/standards; 6) providing technical oversight and expertise to staff who are managing major projects, reviewing plans, designs, and executing lease contracts and multimillion-dollar projects with highly complex major scopes that are technical in nature; 7) leading the Facilities Budget Activity (FBA) efforts on an annual basis; 8) overseeing the performance of complex and highly technical comparative design analysis and recommends solutions to technical problems; and 9) monitoring building constructions and tenant improvements according to tenant specifications.
