FIRE PROTECTION INSPECTOR

For GS-08: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Conducting inspections of shipyards, submarines, and ships to identify fire hazards and implement corrective actions; 2) Identifying hazardous conditions or practices, evaluates degree of hazard involved, and determines appropriate action to be taken; 3) Recommending changes and additions to construction projects to ensure compliance with fire prevention regulations; 4) Providing guidance to supervisors, employees, and the general populace on fire safety and fire protection programs. 5) Instructing in a classroom setting using methods and techniques to educate others about fire safety. NOTE: This experience must be fully supported in your resume to be considered for this position. ***CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR GS-08*** For the GS-08: This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for the GS-08: HAZMAT Awareness, Fire Inspector I/II, and Fire Instructor I. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached copies of your certifications, you will be rated ineligible. For GS-07:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-06 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Assisting in the organization and implementation of fire safety education programs; 2) Recommending corrective actions to eliminate fire and safety hazards; 3) Inspecting and testing a variety of fire extinguishing and reporting systems ; 4) Preparing written inspection reports and violation notices for review. NOTE: This experience must be fully supported in your resume to be considered for this position. ***CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR GS-07*** If selected for the GS-07 you will have one year from date of appointment to obtain these certifications: All certifications for the GS-08 level. These certifications must be awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement.
