Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler without more than normal supervision. Must have the ability to perform common warehousing activities under minimal supervision, such as collecting, receiving, storing, selecting, issuing, transporting, and shipping materials, supplies and/or equipment. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Efforts: Often required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time bend, stoop and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. They may lift and carry items that weigh up to 70 lb. The heavier items are moved with handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. ???????Working Conditions: Work is done inside or in outside-areas that may be hot damp cold, drafty or poorly lighted. Is regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises abrasions falls and injury from falling stock or mechanize conveyor systems. When working with hazardous materials incumbent may be subject to exposure from explosive toxins or chemical fuses. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as steel toe shoes, rubber gloves and masks.
