Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as establishing and/or maintaining medical records for patients; utilizing office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and/or Power Point to create documents/spreadsheets in support of a medical office. Experience with medical terminology and documentation in order to utilize electronic health record systems such as MHS GENESIS, Health Artifacts and Image Management Solutions (HAIMS) Medical Records. Experience with compliance of regulatory rules and regulations regarding patient privacy, release of information, as they pertain to health information management and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). OR Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
About the Position: Serve as a Medical Records Technician (Office Automation) using AHRS, for Jacksonville Naval Hospital, Jacksonville, FL. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Student Loan repayment may be authorized. Advance leave accrual may be authorized. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD.
