To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements. Basic Requirements: A. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that included or was supplemented by supervised student teaching, and at least one course in each of the following areas: general psychology, human development, history and/or philosophy of education, and teaching methods at the learning level of the position to be filled, i.e., elementary or secondary learning level. For secondary school teaching positions, applicants must also have had at least 24 semester hours (or equivalent) of course work in each of the principal fields of instruction. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience – Applicants who have completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited or preaccredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s degree but who do not meet the specific course requirements shown above meet minimum qualification requirements if they have completed at least one full academic year of professional teaching experience at the elementary or secondary school level as appropriate to the position to be filled. Professional teaching experience is defined as full and primary responsibility for the instruction of assigned students under general supervision in a recognized or accredited school or other accredited educational institution. This includes responsibility for preparation and presentation of lessons and the evaluation of students’ progress throughout the learning period, including a determination of the students’ success or failure according to established criteria. OR C. Teacher certification or licensure in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. NOTE: If you are using the above to qualify, you MUST submit proof of certification or license for verification. Your documentation MUST be uploaded at the time you apply. AND Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience. OR Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade-level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience in assisting in organization, planning, implementation and evaluation of a variety of educational programs which may include Adult Continuing Education, General Education Development, English as a second Language, special learning needs programs and others. Experience in overseeing the work of instructors who provide educational services under contract. Experience in evaluating academic and/or vocational programs and making recommendations based on changing developments. Experience in assigning duties to subordinates in order to accomplish goals and objectives. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience.
