Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG-14 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as working in a banking regulatory environment analyzing and processing examination reports of insured financial institutions reviewing policies, rules and regulations to ensure fair treatment of institutions throughout the examination and regulatory processes; and coordinating the analysis of operating programs related to the banking industry to identify patterns and systematic problems and developing procedural and/or policy changes to resolve complaints and disputes made against insured depository institutions. This position is located in the Office of Ombudsman, Dallas, TX Regional Office of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support as a liaison to FDIC and regulated financial institutions to influence systemic change to improve operations and customer service and encourage the use of effective conflict management practices.
