General Engineer/Physical Scientist (Operations Engineer)

A qualified candidate’s online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA pay band or GS grade level in the Federal Service (i.e., EN-00/NN-02 or GS-11). Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience conducting at least 3 of the following activities: 1. Conducting oversight of contractor operations including evaluation of management and operations involving diverse hazards. 2. Determining whether a facility or operation is in compliance or noncompliance and the technical adequacy of actions taken or proposed. 3. Conducting inspections, gathering and analyzing facts, evaluating processes, equipment and practices, performing calculations, and reporting findings. 4. Preparing, presenting, and evaluating plans, analyses, reports, and correspondence. 5. Identifying, controlling, mitigating, and eliminating safety hazards in the design and use of facilities, equipment, operations, and work processes. A successful candidate in this position will serve as a field point of contact Operations Engineer, for safety related operations and activities of Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), and other Nuclear Weapons Complex (NWC) sites and provides technical guidance and contractor oversight on daily operations and activities at SNL facilities.
