Only experience and education obtained by the closing date 12/02/2024 will be considered. In order to qualify for this position you must satisfy the Minimum Qualification. Minimum Qualification [GS-5] One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience may include: (1) assisting with wildlife population surveys; (2) capturing, handling, and tagging a variety of wildlife; (3) assisting with the collection of seeds, propagation, handling, and caring for federally listed plants or host plants of federally listed species; (4) capturing fish for fish sampling; (5) collecting water quality data; (6) identifying invasive species and organisms; (7) data collection and recording. OR Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree with major or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. At least 6 semester hours of courses must have been directly related to the position to be filled. OR A combination of education and experience as described in 1 and 2 above which together equals 100% of the requirement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
This position is a Biological Science Technician, GS- 0404-5, working in San Antonio, TX, for the R2-Texas Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office. This is a temporary position expected to last 1 year but may be extended up to a total of 2 years at managements discretion.
