To qualify, the candidate: Must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a student on at least a half-time schedule at a qualifying educational institution in a certificate, degree, or diploma program. Qualifying Educational Institutions are any of the following: 1) A public high school whose curriculum has been approved by a State or local governing body; 2) A private school that provides secondary education as determined under State law; 3) A home school that is allowed to operate in a State; 4) Any of the following educational institutions or curricula that have been accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education: A technical or vocational school; a 2-year or 4-year college or university; a graduate or professional school (e.g. law school, medical school); or a post-secondary home school curriculum. Must meet the above definition of a student throughout the duration of the internship through at least May 2025. (Applicants who have graduated and not enrolled as a student during the internship is not eligible for this position) Must meet the below minimum requirement(s): MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: To qualify at the GS-07 level you must meet one of the following: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government. To qualify at the GS-07 level you must meet one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (GS-05 or equivalent pay band) in the Federal service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as: Participating in research; Drafting reports; and Collecting, analyzing, and presenting information. OR SUBSTITUITON FOR EDUCATION: One (1) full academic year of graduate-level education. (One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study or, 18 semester hours is considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement.) OR Superior Academic Achievement as demonstrated by a bachelor’s degree related to the work of the position from an accredited college or university with one of the following below provisions: Class standing — Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; Grade-point average (G.P.A.) — Applicants must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (“B” or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 (“B+” or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2years of the curriculum. Membership in a national scholastic honor society — Applicants can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achshonor.org/) OR A combination of experience and graduate-level education as described above that when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement.
This vacancy is for a Student Trainee in the (NTIA) in the Department of Commerce. The NTIA is seeking bright, innovative, results-oriented individuals to join our Pathways Internship Program (IP). You may work full-time or part-time while attending school or during academic break. The Program is designed to provide students with opportunities to work and get paid for the federal work performed. At the conclusion of the program, you may be eligible for conversion into a permanent position.
