Only experience and education obtained by 12/03/2024 will be considered. In order to qualify for this position you must possess both the Basic Requirement and Minimum Qualification. Basic Requirement: Successfully completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university with a major in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a related discipline. OR Possess a combination of education that includes courses equivalent to a major as shown above AND appropriate experience or additional education that, combined, meets the basic requirements of the occupational series. Minimum Qualification [GS-11] One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-9 in the Federal service. Experience includes supporting the development and implementation of fish and/or wildlife conservation projects or fish and/or wildlife-oriented recreation access projects; assisting with monitoring and evaluating fish and/or wildlife project activities in the field to determine progress in accomplishment of stated project objectives; assisting in data management and information exchange within or among natural resource organizations. OR Completed 3 years of graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree. OR A combination of education and experience as described in 1 and 2 above which together equals 100% of the requirement. Minimum Qualification [GS-12] One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-11 in the Federal service. Experience includes developing and implementing grant proposals for fish and/or wildlife conservation or fish and/or wildlife-oriented recreation access projects; planning and implementing fish and/or wildlife research, management, access, and/or habitat protection projects; monitoring and evaluating fish and/or wildlife projects in the field to determine progress and providing guidance to address issues that occur during the project; developing and implementing cooperative partnerships to achieve fish and/or wildlife conservation or fish and/or wildlife-oriented recreation outcomes; implementing research and management projects focused on fish and/or wildlife in the marine environment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
This position is a Fish and Wildlife Biologist, GS- 0401-11/12 working in the Office of Conservation Investment, Northeast Region and works with State Conservation Agencies and Tribal Nations in the thirteen Northeast States and the District of Columbia to implement projects to provide public access to lands and waters to connect people with nature.
