To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-05: Three (3) years of general experience,1 year of which is equivalent to at the GS-4 with the particular knowledge, skill, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position of the Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist. OR Four (4) year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree. GS-07:1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Select, install, modify, test and evaluate medical/dental equipment; Repair, calibration and preventive maintenance of medical/dental equipment ranging from blood pressure cuffs to computed tomography (CT) scanners. OR One (1) full year of graduate level education. OR Superior academic achievement in a Bachelor’s degree curriculum. OR A combination of education and specialized experience as described above. GS-09:1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Assist with evaluation, installation, service, and repair of highly complex medical equipment and systems; Purchase new medical equipment and inspect, operate and test medical equipment to determine whether it meets government specifications; Provide advice to clinical staff regarding new equipment, environment, available facilities, network requirements, purchasing and overall life cycle management. OR Master’s or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR A combination of education and specialized experience as described above. GS-11: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Conduct preventive maintenance checks and service inspections of patient care equipment to include visual inspections, operational checks, electrical safety inspections, calibration, and performance verification; Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, overhaul, and surveillance testing of electronic components, medical equipment/systems and modifications based on official guidance; Provide written reports as necessary/required by policy and procedures. OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or Three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR A combination of education and specialized experience as described above. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
This position works for the Great Plains Area, Office of Environmental Health & Engineering, Division of Clinical Engineering located in Pine Ridge, SD. The incumbent will report to the Supervisory Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist or designee.
